Health experts estimate that about 10 percent of children, or at least 155 million youngsters worldwide, are overweight or obese. The rate of obesity has doubled in children and tripled in teens in the last 25 years says Robert Eckel, president-elect of the American Heart Association.

 

Treat Obesity as Disease Experts Say:
Obesity affects 300 MILLION people.  In European countries, rates have soared by 10-50 percent in the last decade. In Japan, it has doubled since 1982 and in the United States the percentage of young overweight people has tripled in 25 years.
